Well, that could have gone better, and it could have gone worse. I wasn’t fumbling through my hazy mind for answers this time, but there are also a couple I would have liked to have back.
I should know by next Tuesday.

From an e-mail I just got from dad:
Your Grampa is doing really well with his new ear - better than anyone expected - even the doctors. First time in years that I’ve been able to carry on a conversation with my dad - brought tears to me eyes.
(For those of you who don’t know, which is most of you, my grandfather has been deaf for almost ten years. Which means he’s never heard a concert of mine. He had surgery in May for an experimental implant that takes sounds and converts them to electrical impulses, directly stimulating the aural nerves (in other words, a replacement ear). So yeah, this is a big deal.)
I’ve got it all figured out. Hell must have frozen over.
1) There’s no other reason for it to be this hot and nasty outside.
2) There’s no other way I would have just paid less than $2 a gallon for gas.
Nicholas, your Super IQ score is 141
Your overall intelligence quotient is the result of a scientifically-tested formula based on how many questions you answered correctly. But it’s only part of what we learned about you from your answers on the test. We also determined the way you process information.
The way you think about things makes you a Complex Intellectual. This means you are highly intelligent and have extraordinarily strong verbal and math skills. Compared to others you are a highly conceptual and complex thinker and are able to understand information in an abstract form. You also show great attention to detail. In fact, it’s hard to find something you’re not good at.
How did we determine that your thinking style is that of a Complex Intellectual? When we examined your test results further, we analyzed how you scored on 8 dimensions of intelligence: spatial, organizational, abstract reasoning, logical, mechanical, verbal, visual and numerical. The 3 dimensions you scored highest on combine to make you a Complex Intellectual. Only 6 out of 1,000 people have this rare combination of abilities.
Congratulations, Nicholas!
Your IQ score is 138
This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.
Your Intellectual Type is Visual Mathematician. This means you are gifted at spotting patterns — both in pictures and in numbers. These talents combined with your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture, which is why people trust your instincts and turn to you for direction — especially in the workplace. And that’s just some of what we know about you from your test results.
Thanks for reminding me John.
Pulled off the road on Mortensen and sat for about a minute, then the explosions, then the falling.
Didn’t have time to grab the camera though
I find myself in an interesting dilemma, which hopefully some of you experienced types might know about. I started out learning the original ANSI C standard, and then realized that there was a newer version of that standard called C99. So, I started digging into that again, when it hit me–is this compatible with Objective-C?
Any insights?
Well, I got back to the garage on Friday after my Orange shift, and lo and behold, 997 is sitting out (blocking half the road, I might add), with the delivery driver inside yacking on his cell phone. I went inside and told dispatch, whose jaws promptly hit the floor, for you see, everybody was under the impression that 997 had not even left New York yet, and it was not expected for at least another two weeks.
All four new buses are here. Hopefully service prep on them will start Monday.
Units 995 and 996 were sitting outside when I got back to the garage after my morning shift! I’m assuming 994 and 997 are either going to be here shortly, or arrived and have already been introduced to the maintenance bays to start service prep. From what I’m told, they want them in-service as soon as possible… I probably won’t get to drive them much though, seeing as how the bus I drive stays out for the evening, which means low-floor.
Pictures coming.
