Well, I forgot to update one of the most important parts of my design… the quotes! Good thing I happened to read John’s blog this morning in which he mentioned his own quote system. Should be fixed shortly.
Over the next few weeks I will be playing around with other existing themes tweaking them to work with the site. So, my apologies if you see something odd.
Apple finally acknowledged the whining/buzzing sound, so now I don’t have to find something else wrong with my computer to get the logic board replaced and get rid of the damn noise!
Well, I’m in the middle of an exciting and busy couple of weeks.
As I alluded to in my previous post, Maggie and I were married on Saturday. Everything went perfectly. The music was beautiful, the homily was very touching, and the weather got better just for us! The only thing that went wrong is that the video camera tried to eat the tape, so there are a few little glitches on it… oh well. Can’t win ‘em all, right?
Today’s my last day off work, then it’s back to the grind.
Maggie and I are packing to move. We talked to Hunziker yesterday, and the people in our apartment are scheduled to check out on Friday, so hopefully we’ll be able to get in by Saturday morning and not have to mess with the whole homeless thing. We’ll find out on Friday. In the meantime, we have more crap than even I imagined to sort through and pack… very annoying.
I hope you like the new theme. I saw it while I was browsing the web and decided I rather liked it. It will be a placeholder while I develop an all-new theme over the next [insert length of time here]. I’ll be going for a more classic look with the new theme, and I may experiment with Ajax, so you can add a comment and see it on the main page without even having to reload the page. That’s a bit of a tall order, but it’ll be fun to figure it out.
Oh well, back to packing!
//edit: Whoops! Need to implement the comment threading. Silly me!
//edit2: OK, I’m sick of having to hack in threaded comments every time I want to change a theme. I’m done messing with it.
//edit3: OK, since I suck soooooo badly at just leaving stuff alone, threaded comments are back… however, it fails to detect if you’re logged in. I’ll need to fix that.
//edit4: OK, login detection works again (Why in -hell- did he leave it out in the first place?), and the comment form/list has been matched to the original theme. Now I really need to get back to packing. Really.
So yeah, I guess I’m married or something. Fancy that!
Everything’s just kind of a whirlwind right now. There’s a bunch of little things I’m trying to take care of. Thankfully Monday is my next and last full day of work. I have to go to Tuesday’s staff meeting, but that’s only an hour, so I can swing that.
We’re pretty close. Everything that’s left is just details.
Oh… and what the hell do you *do* at a wedding reception? We don’t have room to dance (nor did we hire music), and we aren’t opening gifts until after we move… but I know there’s got to be more to it than that.
So, I’ve found this nice little tool called Ecto that interfaces quite nicely with the blog. It may even be worth paying money for, we’ll see.
//edit: Nope, guess not. No support for password-protection. Oh well.
